Problems Using Windows Live Mail on Vista 64

The download agent seems to work fine installing the Live suite of programs on my Vista-64 system. I can use Messenger without any problems, and can get to my hotmail account through Internet Explorer just fine.

However when I go to use the Live Mail application a box comes up that say Windows is "configuring my system" then disappears with nothing else happening. The application never actually loads. I test the Windows Live mail on my laptop with XP and it works great. Any ideas what the hangup is on Vista 64.

I have 4GB of RAM, Pentium Quad Extreme processor, 320GB HD system.

Have you tried restarting the computer to make sure the installation finished it's process. Sometimes when you install a suite of programs like this, it may require multiple restarts to finish.

If that does not work, then you might try uninstalling Windows Live Mail and then reinstall it again by itself.

I have tried restarting a number of times. The install process seemed to be "gathering required information" but still resulted in the program never starting when this was finished. The WL download program does not distinguish between applications so I was unable to select Windows Live Mail to be redone. I take it from your answer that this is not a very common problem for Vista 64bit users. It appears to be just a problem on my machine at present?

Here is the link for the stand-alone Windows Live installers. Just select the Install_{184E7118-0295-43C4-B72C-1D54AA75AAF7}.msi link for Windows Live Mail. Perhaps this will work better with out the Windows Live Installer for the whole suite.
