| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Windows Live Mail Brink, I rec'd a message in my email regarding a problem that Ben949 was having with spell check in WM. You advised him to install WLM and provided the link. So I tried to install WLM again. I did it once before a few months ago and it didn't install properly. All my folders came over but most of them were empty. I tried to import the folders from my WM but it still didn't work. But I knew that WLM was coming out with a new version so I decided to give it a try using the link you provided for Ben949. I followed all the instructions but I can't find WLM anywhere. I looked in my programs and features and there are some items there for WL things but not WLM. And I use to get on startup WL Messenger and WL Today. WL Messenger comes up but with nothing in it and WL Today doesn't come up at all. I tried to install it again and it said that I already have it. What did I do wrong? ![]() Thanks. Nadia |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Windows Live Mail Hello Nadia, If WLM is installed, then the exe file should be at C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Mail\wlmail.exe. If not, then uninstall WLM from Program and Features double clicking on Windows Live Essentials an selecting it. Afterwards try reinstalling it again to see if works for you. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Windows Live Mail Hi Shawn, Thanks for the info. I don't know where to put: C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Mail\wlmail.exe. to check if WLM is actually installed (I'm not too good at computers). I did check Programs & Features and found these in there: WL Essentials; WL Favorites for WL Toolbar; WL Sign In Assistant; WL Sync; WL Upload Tool. So just in case I have to delete WL Essentials like to said I may have to do, is that the only one I delete or do I delete some of the other WL Programs? Also what about my WL Messenger & WL Today????? Thanks, Nadia |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Windows Live Mail Nadia, If the C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Mail\wlmail.exe file is there, then WLM is installed. Clicking on that file should open WLM. You can right click on that file and click on Send To and Desktop (create shortcut), then move the shortcut where you like to open WLM easily. If that file above is not there or it does not open WLM after double clicking on it, then uninstall Windows Live Essentials from Programs and Features (in Control Panel) an select only Windows Live Mail to uninstall. Afterwards, reinstall WLM again. |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Windows Live Mail Shawn or Brink, I don't think I explained myself correctly in my other reply to you. I don't know where to type in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows. My mind has left me for the day and I can't remember how and where to do it. So I didn't check to see if WLM was installed when I clicked on that link. I don't know what to do with that link in order to see if WLM was installed? Thanks, Nadia |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Windows Live Mail Oh, ok Nadia. Here's how: Open the Start menu and copy and paste in the search line below in bold and press enter: %PROGRAMFILES(x86)%\Windows Live\Mail\wlmail.exe If Windows Live Mail (WLM) is install, then that will open the program. If WLM opens, then you can right click on the desktop and click on New and Shortcut, then copy and paste that location above in bold and click on Next, type in a name, and click on Finish. |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Windows Live Mail Hi Brink or Shawn (which one are you?) I just cc'd and pasted the link in the "Start" menu box and it search and then said "No items match your search". So I clicked on WL Essentials and only uninstalled WLM. I left everything else as it was. Tomorrow I will try to install WLM again and let you know what happens. I'm too now to do it. It's 12:56 a.m. here. When I get to this link: Windows Live Suite Downloads, should I click to go to WL Homepage or go below that and click on WLM to install it? Thanks, Nadia |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Windows Live Mail Hi Brink or Shawn (Which one is it??), I tried to download WLM and it worked but: 1. Not all my folders came over from WM 2. I have 2 Inboxes: They both have folders but the folders do not have the same info in them. For instance, in my Vista Forums Folder, one of the inboxes has nothing in it and the other has messages but not all of them came over from WM. Another example would be in a folder in one of the inboxes there are files in there but no 2009 files, it only goes to 12/08 and in the other same folder in the other Inbox there's nothing. 3. My contacts came over but there's no little icon to click above where you write the emails that has a contact icon. Maybe in WLM, that's how it is, I don't know but in WM you just click on that little icon and all your contact appear. However, in WLM there is a Contact in the folder area that you can click on and get the contacts and when you click on "To" when writing an email, your contacts are there so I guess WLM is just different in that way. 4. The menu bad did come already installed so I didn't have to do what you told the other person to do (Alt + M and click on Show All Menus). See, I installed WLM before (12/08) upon the advice from MS Communities. The same thing happened then too. Not all the folder came over etc... So they told me how to import them from WM and I did that but nothing different happened. My folders stayed the same; no new info inside the folders or other missing folders were added. That's why I decided to wait until WLM had a newer version come out. MS Communities suggested I wait and do it them. Do you know if this WLM that I just installed is the new version? I installed it twice today and got the same results. Oh, I just thought of something else. In my 2 sets of "Inboxes" one came over with the correct name of the folder like I had it in WM but the other one, had a lot of abbreviations like: "Cute & Funny 3E4" It should read "Cute & Funny Emails". Also, I tried to make it an icon on my desktop and it didn't work. I believe you instructed someone how to do this and mine never came up with "Send to-----wherever like "Desktop". What did I do wrong or is it something in my system that's creating the problem. Everything seems to work for everyone else but when I try it, it doesn't !!! ![]() HELP !!!! Thanks, I really appreciate it. Nadia |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Windows Live Mail Nadia, This will show you how to import messages from Windows Mail into Windows Live Mail. Windows Live Mail - Import Windows Mail Messages - Windows 7 Forums Check in the Start Menu, All Programs, and Windows Live folder for the Windows Live Mail shortcut. In Windows Live Mail, click on Tools and Options, then at the bottom click on both of the Make Default buttons. This will make all default Windows Mail shortcuts into Windows Live Mail shortcuts instead. |
