Vista - Windows Live Mail Exit Problem

I have Windows Vista Home Premium. The Windows Live Mail process does not close when I exit Live Mail. And until the process is closed I cannot open Live mail. I have to use the Task Manager to close the Windows Live Mail process. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but that did not help. What do I need to do to fix this problem?

Are you actually selecting File and Exit or right-clicking and selecting Exit or are you simply X-ing out of the windows? Let me know. I'll keep looking for a fix for you.

I've been just X-ing out; But I tried the other ways you asked about and had the same results. This problem sorted grew from being intermittent till now it occurs every time I use Live Mail. I do not see the problem on Laptop just on the Desktop.
