| Vista Ultimate 32bit | WLM 2009 Standalone Hi, About 2 months ago i upgraded my WLM suite. To my horror, they changed windows live mail from an application, back to a website email. So quickly system restored back and luckily was able to retrieve the old version which is an actual client installed on my PC as opposed to hotmail.com. Anyway, I've noticed with my old version of messenger, i am plagued with that annoying cant sign in troubleshoot thing and thought i might want to upgrade to the WLM 2009 messenger. THing is, with this new WLM suite range, i cannot upgrade messenger without upgrading my email client. Is there a trick to upgrade messenger without upgrading mail? |

| Vista | Re: WLM 2009 Standalone Joronamo – When you go to download the Windows Live Essentials, it will ask you which items you wish to install. Simply don’t check the box next to Windows Live Mail (which is a standalone application. See here: Mail - Windows Live). Here’s the link to more info on Windows Live Messenger: Messenger - Windows Live. Cheers, |

| Vista Ultimate 32bit | Re: WLM 2009 Standalone Hey Rons thanks for reply, but unfortunatly your are wrong or must have misunderstood my post. When i run windows live installer it says the following programs will be updated: mail and messenger and doesnt give me an option to uncheck mail. It only gives me an option to check or uncheck photo gallery, toolbar etc. Hence i am still searching for a way to update my messenger without updating mail. |

| Vista | Re: WLM 2009 Standalone Just wanting to get things going here for you. Are you seeing a screen similar to this (attached) when you get into the actual installation? |

| Vista Ultimate 32bit | Re: WLM 2009 Standalone Nope, pretty sure thats the old WLMinstaller. The new one has the 'you already have these programs' section replaced with 'these programs will be updated'. |

| Vista Ultimate 32bit | Re: WLM 2009 Standalone Hmm something is not right though. When i upddated to the latest version 2 months ago, my mail turned into a web-based application. meaning that if i clicked on my mail icon in the desktop it took me to hotmail.com. However according to wikipedia, the latest version of windows live mail should still be a desktop application. |

| Vista | Re: WLM 2009 Standalone Should have asked this before, but are you in the U.S.? The screen I posted above is the screen that comes up when you download the package from Essentials - Windows Live (confirmed). I’m thinking one of two things: 1) You’re not in the U.S. and are getting a different download or 2) You’re downloading from a different site. Yes, you’re correct, Windows Live Mail is a desktop client (as you can see here: Mail - Windows Live). It has taken the place of Outlook Express. Still hoping we’re moving toward a fix for you. Cheers, |
