| Vista Home Premium | I'm new here, and totally FRUSTRATED! Hi, I am so frustrated with Windows IE, Live Mail, you name it. The problem I have most often is, when I am opening my mail, it takes forever to load, then I get the error message "Windows Cannot display that page" - happens everytime I try to reply or send a message. ![]() I have a 9-month old Dell Studio, and despite the motherboard crapping out the second week I had it, it's been fairly okay for my needs. I run Vista XP Home, and I hate Vista, but cannot find out how to switch back to Win. Okay, I got off track - How the heck can I fix Live mail to work better, or do I upload another browser program? Don't laugh, I don't know all the right terms to say - so "explain it to me like I'm a six-year old." (Anybody know the movie where that line is from?) Thank you for any help or big bomb you can send me. . . |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: I'm new here, and totally FRUSTRATED! You could try using firefox as your new web browser alternatively if your loading your live mail using the url mail.live.com you could try selecting the link on the main screen to use the more basic version if you don't have a very fast internet connection. |

| Vista Home Premium | Re: I'm new here, and totally FRUSTRATED! Thanks for the help! I was thinking about downloading I8, but figured it had to be as bad as the one I have now. I also downloaded Firefox, but I couldn't find my mail or pin my favorites, so it was a bit confusing for me. When you said, ". . . if your loading your live mail using the url mail.live.com you could try selecting the link on the main screen to use the more basic version ", What and where is the main screen I use to get the basic version of Live? And, is this in IE or Firefox? As you can see, even after ten+ years of usuing a PC, I'm still pretty limited in knowledge! If you can give step-by-step instructions, I'd kiss your monitor! |

I think I love you Argowen. Thank you so much - I'll give it a try - I live in a really remote area in San Diego county, and I use Sprint for my broadband, but it has very slow connection speed. But I'll do anything to at least get my mail! |

| Vista Home Premium | Re: I'm new here, and totally FRUSTRATED! Load IE and in the Address bar type mail.live.com (make sure you have already logged out as if you are already logged in it will simply take you to your inbox). then enter you username and password as normal. Lastly when you click login text will appear to say that it is connecting to your account and loading etc; at the bottom of that text it should say something along the lines of "loading taking to long click here" and it will initiate a lower bandwidth version of live mail. I've used it before and it almost like using the old hotmail but, with the slightly newer interface.[/quote] I loaded IE8, but when I closed the browser then re-opened it, didn't see any changes. Should I have? I did type mail.live.com, and went to my account, but it didn't ask for my login info. How do i know I am actually usuing IE8? |

| Vista | Re: I'm new here, and totally FRUSTRATED! Also, just as another way for you to access your mail easily, you might want to check out Windows Live Mail (the desktop client). It works like other desktop clients and pulls your e-mail from your online Windows Hotmail and Live accounts. By using this, you don't have to actually open a browser and surf around for your e-mail, it's all downloaded right into the client. Here's a link to more info and the download: Mail - Windows Live. Hope this helps! Feel free to post with any other questions you have. Cheers, |

| Vista Home Premium | Re: I'm new here, and totally FRUSTRATED! Thanks, RonS! I had to shut down my computer for IE8 to load - my mail box now pops up faster, but it still takes forever to send or reply to messages. I do not know if this is related to my connectivity, or what. What I'd like to do is, DUMP VISTS and go back to XP Pro!!! Can I do that? And how? |

| Vista | Re: I'm new here, and totally FRUSTRATED! Regardless of how you go (XP or Windows 7 RC), you are going to want to back up your PC before you do anything. Here's a link to how to do that: Methods for backing up your files - Windows Vista Help. If you have your XP installation discs still, all you'll need to do is insert them and do a clean install. If you want to try out the Windows 7 RC, you can dowload that from here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win.../download.aspx. Cheers, |
