windows mail security alert

when i go to windows mail, to look at my new emails, a box comes up titled "Windows Security", it says Logon to pop3.ntlworld.com
please verify that both the username and password are correct for your mail server.
it then asks me for my username and password, and when i enter what i think these are, it still won't let me in. I Can send emails, and look at old ones, i just can't look at my unread recieved ones, is there anyway you get around this?
