Windows Live Messenger Crash

Hi

I've recently began having this problem with my Windows Live Messenger for absolutely no reason whatsoever. I havent installed/deleted/changed anything on my Vista laptop but for some reason when I log into Messenger it says that "Messenger has stopped working and needs to close". On the additional information section I am given the following information:

Problem signature:

Application Timestamp: 498cf586
Fault Module Name: msvcrt.dll

Fault Module Timestamp: 4791a727
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 00009b4a
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3

I have tried running my Registry Mechanic, uninstalling and re-installing the new beta version, uninstalling the newest one and installing 5.0 and I even ran system restore. I even tried disabling the UAC at another website's suggestion. Each time I logged back into Messenger I get the same error. Does ANYONE have any idea what the problem is and how it can be resolved?

Thanks for reading.

There seems to be a few solutions to this problem, try this first.

1. start menu
2. computer
3. double click C drive (or drive you installed vista
4. double click program files
5. double click MSN messenger
6. right click msnmsgr
7. properties
8. compatibility- change TO: run this program as an administrator

and happy to say its sorted. Thanks loads.
