Vista - error reports when signing in

for about half a week now everytime I sign into Messenger I get a "Windows Live Platform has encountered a Problem and Must Close" message.

error signature is
AppName: wlcomm.exe AppVer: 14.0.8064.206 ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.5755 Offset: 00036f63

I use messenger alot pretty much everyday. ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but it keeps happening and I found a thread here that said it has something to do with malware/spyware and ive DLed 2 programs to remove that and it still hasnt fixed it.

and im using Windows XP Office Edition. hopefully someone here can help me its quite frustrating

hello you can try going to internet tools internet options and then click advanced scroll down to security uncheck server certificate this should work how ever when you sign in again you will have to do the same thing untill i can find out Why this is happening
