    problems with messenger

    Hi
    i want to install msn messenger on vista
    but it tells me to install the new updates & service pack
    the problem is that when i installed them i could't start windows
    i had to insert the win dvd & do a repair
    so how to install messenger without these updates?
    (i don't want to use the online ver & a replacment like trillian)

    If I know what the blue screens where perhaps I can help with what went wrong. Will it not work until you do the updates?

    Do you not have service pack 2? What's the exact message (including error codes).
