Vista Tutorial - Error 80240028 on update KB955428

I did exactly what Ex_Brit posted. I see the installation in the installed updates, but Windows Update is still showing that I need to install it. Is there any way to remove it from my Windows Update?

Let it proceed and it will just "withdraw the offer" when it realises it's done already.
I've seen that happen with many updates that I've manually installed.

Thank you so much! You were absolutely right. I just checked my available updates and it's gone now. I couldn't have figured this one out without the help of everyone here. Thank you all for posting!

In the meanwhile the hard drive my Vista was installed on died, completely. I couldn't get anything to even gain access to it...lost everything. I'm in the midst of installing Vista on a new HD as we speak. Groan...!!
