Updates fail

HELP!!

My laptop won't install the automatic updates. Well, it installs them, and when I boot again, they are being removed by the automatic system recorvery.
Furthermore, when I want to install SP1 via Windows Update, it runs, my status bar goes full ..... and nothing happens. I can click only on the button: Stop installing. Even after a night waiting :-)

Here are the updates and there error codes:
KB952287, KB943729, KB953839 -> error 80242016
KB951072 -> error 80072F78
KB955020, KB950582, KB951066, KB905866, KB953838, KB950974, KB953733 -> error 800F0816
SP1 (KB936330) -> error 800706BE.

I've read various threads all over internet, but no help was found.
I can't get in touch with MicroSoft, as my software is OEM installed by Dell. And the solution from Dell is: reinstall Windows Vista ... yeah, right.

So, if anyone knows how I can solve my update, I will be most gratefull.

I use G Data Notebook Security as my firewall and virusscanner.

Cheers,
Anton.:cool:

You can contact Microsoft about the SP1 problem, they have a free unlimited support. They maybe able to help, once you can get SP1 you may have an easier time with the other updates.

Although Dells recommendation of re-installing, maybe the way you want to go. Then right away before you install anything else (besides the os and drivers) you'll want to install SP1. Most people recommend installing SP1 as soon as you can, because Antiviruses and other programs can cause problems.

Hi! Anton67

As I have just read somewhere on this forum just yesterday, u shud try to download the failed updates MANUALLY and run them. The reason that was posted was that if for some reason the updates get corrupted while downloading, then Wiindows Updates does not download them again but instead tries to install the same corrupted updates again and again. Hence the loop.

Hope this helps!
