| Member | Re: Vista WONT BOOT!!!! Well, thanks for the detailed option. My only issue with that one is that it won't let me go into safe mode either. I get a simplified version of the same message that I get whenever I try to start it regularly. My GF is soooo awsome though. She said that she was gunna tell her mom that it crashed and let her use hers. I don't really wana start off with her family with a lie like that, but then I realized that it probaly is impossible to fix. I gave in and said that I'll work on it a little bit tonight, but if I can't get it to work, then all her stuff is lost, due to a "system crash". And technically, that's not a lie, because she did crash the system when she restarted it when it said not to. Then after I told my GF that, she said, "Well, good. I'm tired of seeing you so stressed out about something you don't need to be stressed out about. Besides, I already told her that it crashed." lol So, I'll let this extended test using "Windows Memory Diagnositc Tool" finish. Then try that recovery disk. I had to download and burn another image of it cause I accidentally downloaded the 64 bit version in my frantic state the first time. lol. Then, if that does not work. I will reformat it with either Vista Business or XP Pro (both 32bit). I'm hoping to still come out of this as the hero. Because this family is NOT tech savy at all, and think that if an error like this occures, the only remedy is to get a new one. lol. And my GF said that she doesn't think that her mom had any files on it that she did have some where else, cause she never deletes pictures off of her camera after she copies them to the laptop. No music, and no video files should be on it either. dmex, thanks for your trying to help me with this problem. It's unfixable, and there is nothing that can be done about it. Thanks to everyone else who looked at this thread and scratched their heads thinking about it. lol. Timmy J. |

| Member | Re: Vista WONT BOOT!!!! So, I tried a few other things, then I just installed over top of the existing partition. It said that it would keep all of the old files, but when I went to where it saved them, al I fould were those sample pics, vids, and music along with some system files and the program files. |
