| Vista Ultimate x64 | I have to login twice I was wondering if anyone has ran across this problem. I installed vista ultimate x64. It installed and ran with no issues. I then went and got all the updates. Now I have to log in twice. The first time I login I have no icons, and no task bar. The applications that are set to run at startup when I login do start up. I can bring up task manager. If I log out and log right back in then everything is there. When I log out just before it go back to the login screen it looks like my desktop with everyting on it pops up just before being replaced with the login screen. Anyone have any ideas? thanks, |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: I have to login twice Hello GureMediation, It sounds like your user profile had gotten corrupted. You might see if doing a System Restore using a restore point, if available, dated before the problem can fix this. If not, then create a new administrator account to see if that one will run properly. If it does, then you can just delete the old user account while logged on to the new one. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: I have to login twice I may have to do that. What is strange is after I log in the second time every thing is fine. It is only the first time I login after turning on the computer. I suspect someting in one of the updates caused the problem. I didn't have this problem until I pulled down all the updates. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: I have to login twice It could be a conflict with the updates. When there are a lot of them like there is right after installation, I usually only do a few at a time to try and avoid them conflicting with each other. It takes a little longer, but I usually never have a problem with them being installed like that. (so far) Please let us know how it went. Shawn |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: I have to login twice Well, that's better news. In that case, you might check your startup programs to see if one of them may be the culprit. You can do this by temporarily disabling them one by until the problem is gone. The last one you disabled would of course then be the culprit. Afterwards, you would just enable the others again, and just leave the bad one disabled or delete it. Option Two in this tutorial will help show you how to do this if needed. Startup Programs - Enable or Disable Hope this helps, Shawn |
