Update problem

i run Vista home x64, and when the updates download and install everything works until the restart. After the bios and windows screen i get a blue screen telling me that windows is unable to restart and to either restart the computer or contact the administrator. So i restart and i get the option to start windows normally or run the repair, if i select normal i get the same blue screen, so i run the repair and it does the system restore which only partially works. i have to run another restore with a point that i have selected for everything back to normal...i have disabled the auto updates and have been hiding new ones because i'm sick of sitting through two restores...any one have any ideas?
