Ok My windows update has stopped working.

I had it set to update automatically but it stopped doing that. So i tried to do it manually but whenever I try i get this error.

Untitled-4.jpg

As you can see it is error 80070424

I have looked this up and have tried to fix it with the method where you go into the Command prompt and reset it but it did not work.

I also tired to uninstall it and reinstall it but i could not locate the program in the Control Panel.

I do not want to use my factory install disks but I might have to reset something.

Any help is apreciated.

Ok Guys in regards to error ,if you have ad-adware on you're computer, use revo uninstaller(free) in mode 3 to uninstall. Re boot after unistall log on in safe mode..Look for lava soft in program files x86 in 64 bit . rename anything, folder ad-aware rename,in ad-aware folder rename file shell 64.dll or simular.Note must be done in safe mode.Note C:\lavasoft\ad-aware\shell64.dll rename all 2folders 1 file.
Reboot go to run programdata\microsoft\network\downloader and delete all qmgr
files. Then go to program files x86 and delete lavasoft files. Reboot Try windows update.
This fixed my computer, then you can reload ad-aware...The friendly installer ad-aware locks causes the problem .When you re-install tell ad-aware to ignore this file...Good Luck

I have done this, but I get an error when tryping in regsvr32 qmgr.dll

I have included a screenshot but this is what it says:

RegSvr 32

The module "qmgr.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.

Make sure that "qmgr.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again.

Any ideas what to do now?

Did you run cmd.exe with administrative previlliges (right click on this file as administrator) -it's very important.
Instead to do it manually you can use "MS Fix it" which repair many errors -this error should also repair ->How do I reset Windows Update components?
if it fail you can also try this:An update is available to fix a Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) crash on a Windows Vista-based computer

but this error have many meanings -it would going on BITS service but is also possible it is problem with other services;Check you have these services and correct set:

Windows Update -start AUTO
Background Inteligent Transfer Service -start DELAYED-AUTO
Cryptographic Service -start AUTO
Windows Modules Installer - start MANUAL
Windows Installer -start MANUAL

if this is problem with Windows Installer
follow to this:Windows Installer 4.5 is available

if this is problem with Windows Update
follow to this:How to obtain the latest version of the Windows Update Agent to help manage updates on a computer

if this is problem with Windows Modules Installer
