| Vista Home Premium 32 | Windows Update Stuck I just bought a desktop computer. Per usual, as soon as I booted it up, Windows began downloading and installing about 30-some windows updates. When installing, it got to 13 of 30 (.NET update of some kind) and stopped. Over an hour goes by and no progress. I finally tried to "Stop Installation" - thinking that I could reboot and continue installation...but now it just says "Please do not power off or unplug your machine. Installing update 13 of 30." And, as before, nothing appears to be happening. Advice? Turn off computer and reboot anyway? Wait another few hours? Being as this is literally the result of the first time I turned the computer on, I'm seriously considering retuning it...but that's probably just my current extreme frustration talking. Obviously, when you pay a lot for something you would expect that it wouldn't fizzle out on the very first use. Thanks in advance! T |

| Vista 32 Home Basic Service Pack 2 | Re: Windows Update Stuck Try to click view updates or something right below install updates. There try to install one update at a time. If you find the one that doesn't install, skip it and check the rest. |

| Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Windows Update Stuck .NET is a framework for programming languages and some software needs it. It can be a fat download as it updates .NET on your PC to v 3.5 SP1. Try installing it manually from this web installer, then re-running Windows Update: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en |

| Vista Home Premium 32 | Re: Windows Update Stuck Thank you for the advice! My problems got better and then, unfortunately, got "stuck" again. Before receiving your replies, I hard rebooted the system and luckily, the .NET update was still listed in my Windows Update list. I went for it again and it *worked* (i.e., installed in a few minutes). So, I continued using the computer for the rest of the day. Then, the windows updater informs me of more "important updates." I clicked "install updates"...45 minutes later, I realize that it is once again stuck (still installing 1 of 3)...now it's stuck on "Update to .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 for the .Net Frame..." What is the deal with these .NET installations? I've installed over 30 updates since I bought the computer a few days ago...it has locked up twice, both times attempting to update .NET. At any rate, thank you again in advance...but if I end up rebooting and the update is no longer an option to attempt a second install through windows update, is there a way to manually do so? Thanks!
