| Vista Home Premium x86 / Win7 Ultimate x86 | I suggest you do a system restore, roll back the update and either try again or just skip that update. Start Windows in Safe Mode (usually F8/F10 on boot), and open the command prompt (Press Windows+R -> type cmd, press enter). In the command prompt, type rstrui.exe and press enter. Doing a system restore in safe mode means you can't roll it back (even though I don't know if you'd really want to). I believe Windows creates a restore point before every update, so meaning it should only restore to the last time you shut down your computer properly... If safe mode doesn't work, you need to run the command prompt from a recovery disc. |

| Vista home basic | I have tried what you said,no luck it is just repeating the same thing over and over even with the Vista disc in.It starts, goes into power saving mode loads up and keep getting the configuring updates screen with stage 3 of 3 updates 0% loaded etc. |

| Vista 32 win 7 7600 32 bit | At some point in time it is going to be simply easier just to do a clean re-install. If restore didn't work, and a repair install doesn't work you almost have no other options Ken |
