:sa: I will never update windows crap again! Every time I update I have about a week worth of problems!!! Anyhow, as you have ascertained, I updated via automatic updates to SP2. When vista tried to start after the update I got an error message just after the vista splash screen went away. It said !!0Xc0190036!!..461477345 wmpand.dll After rebooting again into asus expressgate so I can still use the internet to surf the forums, I restarted and the same thing happened but this time it said !!0Xc0000034!! 257/77345 ($$_microsoft.netframework64_083d4e330e766..) it continues to be stuck on this. I have tried the "Last known good config" and many restarts. I can not get into the OS the only way I have access to the net is through a mini OS that ASUS installs on my MOBO. which doesn't allow much just web, skype, chat and view pictures. If anyone knows what to do about this please let me know.

Well, that might of helped, provided chkdsk would have completd more than 55% with 185 errors and sfc/scanow would not even run. chkdsk said it could not continue in read only mode. Any other ideas?

You may have seriously corrupted disk -diagnose it by using any much better tool -I recommend MHDD HDDGURU: MHDD
(burn it boot it & scan).Possibly changing disk will be neccasary.

My Computer

as much as I hate to, I guess I will just reformat and then never update vista, just wait for the windows 7 free upgrade and start all the window problems over again. I have Mythbuntu64 on my media server and I have had zero problems, maybe it is time just to forget windows and make the complete jump to Linux and use emulators for what I need out of windows. Decisions, decisions!!!!!

Thanks guys, you help out.

reformat is done and sp2 is good to go. It should not have been that costly, both in money and time. I had to buy another HD so hopefully later I can retrieve my info of the other one the the update screwed up. So this thread is done!
