Trying to get 7 to install.

I bought windows 7 in an attempt to escape from vista. But without fail it is not going down without a fight. Ive already called microsoft several times and that wasnt much help so I am now reaching out to those who may know better than I can get this done....

I managed to download the 7 and its on my desktop waiting, when i click on it it goes into unpacking it and progresses fine. When the installation box comes up, i can start the installation and then nothing happens. It will sit with "starting setup" until I cancel out of it. I left it to do its thing and was going to come back after work and needless to say 8 hours later it still is "starting setup." So, I dont know what went wrong but but I cannot install anything (adobe, flash, itunes, vista upgrades, nothing). Along with a few other things, I am done with vista.

I do have a recovery disk but dont have the slightest idea how to use it. I have already backed up my photos and school work safely and put them somewhere I can get to them. I would like to use this disk to put my computer back to a place where I can install 7 and get vista out of my life so... If anyone could give me some guidance on this it would be much appreciated.

PC

Hi and welcome

It would be easier if you burned it to dvd. then boot from the dvd and the install would go from there.

Re: Trying to get 7 to install.

It sounds like he has the setup files - not the .iso.
