I am trying to install updates (just installed Vista 32 bit) and am getting error 80070057. When I type in the command prompts as directed I get a reply line stating that Proxycfg.exe' (note apostrophe) is not a recognized etc. I have been exceedingly careful that I did not type in the apostrophe by mistake. What do I do now?

Proxycfg command don't exist in Vista instead you have to use netsh wihttp reset proxy command.

1.Try reset WU components in aggressive mode How do I reset Windows Update components?
2.If you have any Acronis product then uninstall them
3.Uninstall all security software

Tried your suggestions with no joy. At this point it is easier to simply do another reinstall. Only the most basic programming had been installed when things went south. Thanks for trying to help.
