Hi,

If its gone from bios it probably a just a Broken HDD or a firmware bug. Ive had 2 drives flashed with new firmware using i365 for free (the drives were under warranty).

What is the exact model name?

Does your HDD spin up when you turn on your PC?

Either way you should check if the drive is under warranty by going to:

Home | Seagate

support & downloads then warranty and returns. All the info should be on that page.

Both mine where 500GB 7200.12, same cache though, so we may have slightly different issues.
But, having said that, the drives cant be that different and if mine had the problems then I point the finger at firmware.

As for flashing bios that probably won't do much. Its the firmware on the actual HDD that screwed up. I wasn't given the option to manually flash it, seagate partner company i356 picked up by courier and sent off to their lab (my closest one was in amsterdam!)
