I have been trying to uninstall some programs, and install others, but I keep getting a message saying - Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed - I can't install the windows installer because my Windows Installer is not correctly installed.. HELP !!!!!!!

Hi,

This is usually quite a straightforward problem to fix. There are many things that we can do to try and fix this issue, so don't worry yet. First, we will try a really simple solution that solves this problem about 90% of the time.

  • Press the Windows key and R to open the Run dialogue.
  • Type "cmd" and press enter.
  • Once Command Prompt has opened, type "msiexec /regserver" and press enter.
Does this fix your problem?

This switch not work any more under Vista/Windows 7

which version or how have you tried to do this?

I have been fighting with this for a while, and don't even remember what I've tried at this point. My laptop is a 32 byte. somehow, ALL my microsoft programs were deleted and being a 'novice' , I am not sure what to do..
