Solved Windows Update Code 80096001

Hello,

I am new here, and want to thank you for taking my question.

I have 4 Windows updates that failed, and I get an error code 80096001. One update did install but 4 failed. I did try again three times, and got the same outcome.

Sure, I ran Microsoft FIX IT in the aggressive mode to reset the Windows update components. After that I went back to the updates, and three of the 4 installed. I then I got another error on the Windows Movie Maker update error 80071A90, but tried again, and it downloaded and installed. This is a first on this Vista machine. I have never had an update fail until this time. I hope this can help another.
