Bluetooth missing

    Bluetooth missing

    Hi, I have a Gateway Notebook (Vista Home Premium) with bluetooth.
    However, since reinstalling Windows (service pack 2) after a major system crash, I have no bluetooth at all and cannot connnect my mobile to upload pics etc.
    There is no icon in my tray and no bluetooth in the control panel nor on any searches....
    Can anyone advise please? Thanks

    With my Dell Netbook I had to get the driver from their website and apply it using a USB stick otherwise it didn't appear anywhere. Have you tried Gateway?

    Hi, thanks for your reply, Gateway online support has not been any use to me for this, ive searched all over the net....tried loads of things, getting frustrating now!

    Have you any idea what the Bluetooth module is - name or make and model etc? The manufacturer's website would most likely have a driver for it.
    Also don't you have the original drivers CD?

    This is one driver but sure your machine is in that list you could check: Gateway Broadcom Bluetooth Drivers Version: 4.0.1.2900

    Often I find also that there some sort of software one has to install. For instance, with Microsoft Bluetooth one has to install the mouse and keyboard software - however, I know that's different, just theorizing here.

    Im going to do some rooting around, i moved house and last had all the disks etc in the laptop case....i need to find this case to do some investigating! Ive no idea what bluetooth module it is as it was preinstalled onto the laptop and ive never really taken much notice. I know there was a wizard that popped up anytime i tried to connect my phone etc but thats about it..However, now there is no bluetooth existing on the laptop at all!
    Im sorry im a bit vague, i know a bit more than the basics of a computer but im not any good at delving into all the clever stuff or talking the lingo so to speak!!

    Its not showing in there either! I definately have bluetooth on here!
    Ive got the icon on the F6 button but that does nothing either, its just not showing any trace of it at all.
