The update KB 2446708 which relates to M/S NET Framework 4 etc.. kept on installing until it left six of the same updates on the computer.

I used the option "Hide Update" eventually and it stopped the repitition. I had tried 'System Restore' prior to this but the updates kept repeating as previously.

The computer is working well now. Should I leave things alone or try and remove five of the additional updates?

Hi welcome to the forum.
These NET framework updates have raised a few questions of late.

Obviously only one of the said updates was installed on your computer?
Others you chose rightly to use 'Hide Update'. Which in essence means they are loaded, but not installed.
Having read a few threads on the various forums, including win7. The case seems divided.
But my own personal opinion is that as they are in 'Hidden Updates", you are not going to want them, you don't see them, they are not really doing any harm?
.I would leave them where they are.
Of course if you had this happening on a regular basis, we would have to look at what was causing the problem.
But as I suspect it is a one-off then I would leave them. Others may have a different opinion.

See if this Microsoft Support tutorial can be of any help .....

How to troubleshoot Windows Update or Microsoft Update when you are repeatedly offered an update

excerpt :
To identify the method to use to resolve the problem, determine whether the update was installed. Then, use one of the methods in the "Troubleshoot the problem" section.

Hello Zaniac625,

download the update program "Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 " from the Microsoft site, not Windows Update.

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4

go to Windows Update and see the installed updates. just uninstall the concerened update.

After uninstalling, reboot the system. then run the downloaded update to install it.

thats all. I think after installing manually it will not repeat. Thanks.

Thanks for the reassurance. I am letting things rest as Longvale also suggested. It saves messing around and creating perhaps additional problems. Thanks again for all the trouble taken.

Under the circumstances of which you have told us.
I think, for now, you are making the 'right decision'
They are at present not harming anything, attempting to remove them involves possible upsets.
Thank you for posting your decision.
