Im running vista home premium x86 and recently it wont allow me to install automatic updates.

I've tried the solutions on MS website and to no aval.

While there is no malware on the computer at this moment there was malware that i removed that changed the proxy in my firefox browser which i have changed back.

I have no 3rd party antivirus installed and windows firewall doesnt seem to be blocking windows update, ive also tried to disable it and it doesnt make a difference.

Its not my main computer i use so i have no idea when it started to do a system restore

Hello, i would recommend you using Microsoft Security Essentials as a anti-virus/anti-spyware program, i have found the MSE to be very good. I also would suggest running free of Malwarebytes , follow this site for complete instructions of how to use. How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to scan and remove malware from your computer
Get MSE here : Anti-Malware, Virus, Spyware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials
Once you have used these to scan , post back results and we will go from there to see about these update issues please.
