Maybe you all can shine a little light on this subject.

I have recently installed Vista Ultimate and started updating. I have itcheck and I get the 20 or so new updates. Have to restart. Then I have it checkagain ... 6-7 more, again and again! Will this ever end?! :)

Hello CodyB65 and welcome (back) to the forums

Yeah, don't worry, you'll reach the end eventually. The problem is that to install an update, it may require an already installed update, so that update has to be installed (download, install, reboot) before the next one can as well. To save yourself some time if you ever come to reinstall Windows, I would recommend making an image of your hard drive after completing all of the updates. This way, you don't have to install them all again :) Macrium Reflect Free is highly regarded among this forum, so I would use that:

Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download

I agree with Tom,
Vista is a very old OS. There have been many, many updates and you have just installed the System. It will take time. Use Macrium as suggested, you will never have this problem, again.

Every day since this post, I have downloaded updates!!!!

I think it will never stop!

As Rich said, there's a lot of updates to download - 3 service packs worth! That's certainly going to take some time to download, although I wouldn't have expected it to take this long. What sort of download speeds do you get?
