Do you have SP1 installed? It is a requirement. Download: Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista Service Pack 2 - Five Language Standalone (KB948465) - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

Yes, SP1 is installed a couple of years ago.

Have you tried the full download?

You mean SP2? Yes, I have tried to update by using the full download and not by using Windows Update.

The system window gives the message that SP1 has installed.

    I'm not following that statement.

If I look in Control Panel->System, I see that SP 1 has been installed.

Try this: System Files - SFC Command

Follow all the steps including the log extraction.

Thank you for the information. I'm afraid that the problems are affected by a dying HD. Every time I run checks, new files are corrupted. It's much more than only the manifests. At this moment the HD is spinning and ticking for a long time, not what I like to hear.

I'll replace the HD with a spare one and install the OS again.

Thank you both for your time and help!

    Hi Bas,

Well, I had no luck sourcing your last manifest. I'm slowly building up a collection of all of the MS updates for every product, but I'm yet to extract them all, so I didn't have a chance to find yours.

I'm sorry to hear that it's a hardware fault, I hope you haven't lost any important files!

You're more than welcome for the help, I learned a lot in this thread so I'm happy

    Tom
