I have been having this trouble for quite some time now.

After searching many of the other forums, none of them have provided a solid fix for this yet. I have tried downloading the apparent "fix" off various other forums and they have either been invalid or a missing link, even Microsoft doesn't have it!!!!!

I wanted to know if someone has got an actual fix for this as it is grinding my computer to a halt sometimes. Forget watching Youtube and even simple tasks!

un-install .NET Framework Version 1.1 Service pack 1.

Then download and use (Run as Administrator) the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, and remove all references to .NET Framework Version 1.1 Service pack 1 (only!).

Then reinstall .NET Framework Version 1.1 Service pack 1:

Then run Windows Update again.
This will do the needfulll

I need more information..

1) How often does it pop-up?

2) Have you had any viruses/malware on your machine to the best of your knowledge?

The main problem others have encountered with this error are problems installing an update, I would think that there is probably something else that might be slowing your computer down...
