Solved cant install sp1 on fujitsu amilo netbook

i have windows vista home basic on my fujitsu amilo netbook with no service packs installed and want to upgrade it as various websites are now not displaying corectly or are real slow and have any banners telling me i need to upgrade.

when i try to dl IE9 it says i dont have the neccesary service pack installed and to 'get update'. when i try to install sp1, i have an error message of

an internal error occured while installing the service pack.
error code 0x8000703ee see blah blah blah for more info. (which dosent provide any solid information to help)

can anyone here please help?

Have you tried to stand alone SP?
If that does not work, post and I will get you a CD with SP1. You will need a product key number.

ok here we go...
standalone didnt work....just the same above mentioned error code.

downloaded the surt,disconnected from net then ran the program. it installed 1 update in about 15 mins or so. i connected to the net and ran it again in which it found the same update (i think) so i installed it again to make sure.

sfc results are below.

ive never had a problem with updates not installing so i dont have any error codes. the only update that wont install is an update to silverlight.

Yeah, your CheckSUR log is showing some file corruptions so let's replace these with a clean copy:

Windows Update Package Replacement

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.


  1. Please download the attached file, Packs.zip and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
  3. Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
  4. A window will open showing two folders, Manifests and Packages
  5. Open the Manifests folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

  6. Open the Packages folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

  7. Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again
  8. When the SURT finishes installing, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SURT log into your next post please:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log


You will probably be shown the error code 0x8024200D after performing this fix, if so, please download and install the update from this link. It must be downloaded using Internet Explorer.

Service Pack installation will fail if you have any antivirus active. Disable any security protection for the duration of the service pack installation. It will also fail if there is insufficient space on the hard drive to unpack the files necessary for the installation to proceed.

I wrote a guide for McAfee customers HERE which might help you. BTW once SP1 is installed you must install SP2 as well and I suggest you use the free Microsoft support for service pack installation issues, linked there.

Make sure the standalone you've downloaded is the right one for your system - i.e. x86 for 32-bit, x64 for 64-bit (more downloads are linked at the bottom of the links.
