Freezes When Applying Windows Updates

I attempted to update Vista Home Premium, but thema computer froze on the first update, which was a .net update. I performed: a hard restart; sfc /scannow; ran a full virus scan, no virus found; ran malware removal; restarted; 2nd attempt to update to update computer; froze again on the 1st update; hard restart; sfc /scannow; removed all .net programs; 3rd attempt to update; computer froze on first update; restored to checkpoint in June 2013; ran sfc /scannow; attempted to update; computer froze on first update; hard restart; opened in safe mde with network drivers. Looked in event log and found:

DCOM got error "1068" attempting to start the service fdPHost with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{145B4335-FE2A-4927-A040-7C35AD3180EF}

DCOM got error "1084" attempting to start the service EventSystem with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{1BE1F766-5536-11D1-B726-00C04FB926AF}

The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was 8007043c from line 45 of d:\longhorn\com\complus\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp.

Boot from your install disc
Click repair your computer
open a command prompt
type C: and press enter
type cd c:\windows\winsxs and press enter
type del pending .xml and press enter
restart your computer

This is really for if your computer won't start after a windows update but you could try it and see if it fixes your problem.
