Computer Programs going 'Non-Responding' after Update.

I just updated my system last night and suddenly weird things are going on. I've had two Blue Screens of Death so far and several programs just enter the 'not responding' state for 30-240 seconds at a time, off and on consistently. My harddrive is also mysteriously missing 32gb of data that I don't know -what- it was, but I now have 70gb free instead of 38gb... None of my primary programs of use (such as skype, steam, games, etc) are missing... So that makes me a little scared of what -is- missing...

Furthermore, I had zero problems until my computer updated this morning when I booted it up...

My antivirus (Avast) and antimalwae software (Malwarebytes) have not picked any malware or viruses up at all...

So I came to the conclusion it was the windows update. Can anyone help me? I don't have the money for a new computer and I really don't want to lose all my writings and books saved on my computer (I can probably try to send it to a friend if skype stays responding for more than 8 seconds...)

I'll try to check back off and on... I'm on an older computer and never had these problems (let alone blue screens) until the update... I've actually not had a blue screen in... 5 years? Also I keep checking 'Do not automatically update' on the windows updates, but it forces updates onto my computer... :\ *sigh!*

I would start the computer and tap F8 to enter a menu with the option of safe mode.
You have to do this before Windows starts to load
Once it has finished loading safe mode
press the windows key and R
Type rstrui.exe and press enter
It will take a little time to load
Select the restore point from before the update and let it finish
Restart as normal
