Hello,
Just introducing myself, my name is Jonathan Minond, and I will be trying my first WinFS Beta 1 Install today, to help with some testing for you guy's. I will be installing on a laptop with Windows Media Center 2005, so if anyone knows any issues I should be aware of, please let me know. On the same PC I have some SQL Server, IIS, VS.NET 2005, .NET 2 and some other stuff that I use daily. The system also networks with a bunch of other networks, so I will get a chance to play around with netwrok talk in winfs as well. One thing that strikes me immediatly, is how is the sharing if this pc has winfs, and the other pc does not.... i suppose its trasnparent to the shell. |

Hey Jonathan -
WinFS Beta1 is not tested on Windows Media Center edition. We have been primarily targetting Beta1 as a developer release mostly tested on XP-SP2-Pro. If you really want to experiment with this scenario, you may need to write a sync adapter from the PC with WinFS to the other machine. You will talk SMB on the other end. Let us know how it goes... thanks, -- Simon Skaria [MSFT] simonsk@microsoft.com This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights "Jonathan" <Jonathan@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:424926FC-9D31-4382-B9FB-875C76A7B61E@microsoft.com... > Hello, > > Just introducing myself, my name is Jonathan Minond, and I will be trying > my > first WinFS Beta 1 Install today, to help with some testing for you guy's. > > I will be installing on a laptop with Windows Media Center 2005, so if > anyone knows any issues I should be aware of, please let me know. > > On the same PC I have some SQL Server, IIS, VS.NET 2005, .NET 2 and some > other stuff that I use daily. > > The system also networks with a bunch of other networks, so I will get a > chance to play around with netwrok talk in winfs as well. > > One thing that strikes me immediatly, is how is the sharing if this pc has > winfs, and the other pc does not.... i suppose its trasnparent to the > shell. > |
