| | Vista I have 2 HD on my PC so I thought I would try Vista on my second HD (not the one with XP etc on). I found that my Pc was not up to running Vista succesfully so I thought the best way would be to Format my D HD. After backing up all the other files on this HD I formatted it. Now whenever I start up the PC still asks me which operating system I would like to use. I went into "run - msconfig" but Vista is not shown. Any one any idea how I can stop this happening apart from a reinstall of my C HD with my XP and other programs on. |

| | Re: Vista Hello, > Whenever I start up the PC still asks me which operating system I would > like to use. I'm yet to do an "uninstall" for Vista myself (with virtualization software this isn't a problem), but it might be that you will need to edit your "boot.ini" file at the root of your C:\ drive. This file is used to keep a list of the operating system you have installed. See this topic from Microsoft Support: How to edit the Boot.ini file in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=289022 WARNING: Be really careful with your edits, since if you remove the wrong entry, you can't boot your Windows XP anymore. Tip: if you want to test Vista in the future, try using virtualization software for your testing. Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 is now a free product: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/vir...loads/sp1.mspx -- Regards, Mr. Jani Järvinen C# MVP Helsinki, Finland janij@removethis.dystopia.fi http://www.saunalahti.fi/janij/ |

| | Re: Vista Thanks for your reply. I had already tried what you have suggested, editing the BOOT.INI file. The problem being that Vista does not show up in it. I used msconfig to get to the BOOT.INI file. I am wondering if it does not show up because Vista was on my 2nd Hd.
