Vista 64 bit, runnning a 32 bit app takes 100% cpu

I'm currently trying to run our software on Windows Vista 64bit, its a 32
bit program and when you try to run it, when it loads up it takes 100% of the
cpu time
so therefore does not run, any suggestions here?

Well, does the application use the Search Indexer service, or the firewall
by any chance? Also have you actually tried on multiple machines? Why not
try just developing a 64-bit version of the application instead... sometimes
32-bit programs don't run on 64-bit machines for various reasons.

Re: Vista 64 bit, runnning a 32 bit app takes 100% cpu

My understanding is overall performance and application handles in Vista is
still not optimized.

"Why not try just developing a 64-bit version of the application instead...

You think its that easy huh? Take into account the development time,
retraining and testing required? I suspect its not a problem with the
application, its just Vista at the moment, Vista x64 has a WOW 64 layer
which out of the box supports 32-bit applications, unless that app interacts
at a low level with the kernel then it will be required that it be 64-bit,
in this case no.

It would greatly help also if the OP could describe what this application
does.

Well, once you start developing C# Andre, then come back to me and tell me
how difficult it is.
