Still confused if Vista includes WinFX or you need to install it?

Re: Vista and WinFX?

It will include WinFX - it does in Beta 2 anyway, and some previous builds.
WinFX components are optional to download if you're running Windows XP SP2
or Windows Server 2003 - so you can develop and run WinFX applications on
previous Windows versions.

Re: Vista and WinFX?

Zack,

Ran your winfxtest tool on Longhorn server 5384. It says "This machine
doesn't have version of WinFX installed".

Is it just your tool?

Re: Vista and WinFX?

Just remembered - don't think "Longhorn" Server has WinFX installed by
default - follow the same link to download and install anyway, then re-run
the toop )

Re: Vista and WinFX?

Yep. It's a feature. You can choose it in configuration manager.

Hmm.. Interesting.

Re: Vista and WinFX?

still don't get why they didn't stick with the name WinFX... actually it
sounds pretty cool. if those developers can't even get used to a new name
and obsessed with over .NET Framework then.... (sigh)

Re: Vista and WinFX?

The developers have little to nothing to do with selecting names.
That is primarily the job of the marketing department.
