Re: Problem Modify hosts file in Windows Vista

Check the properties, take ownership of it and make sure it's not read-only.

Re: Problem Modify hosts file in Windows Vista

You will have to take ownership of the file u want to modify.

Step 1:
Open Command Prompt with Administrators rights and run
takeown /f C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Step 2:
Run
cacls C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts /G username:F
Please replace username with ur logged in user name.

Step 3:
Make sure that "hosts" file is not readonly.

Step 4:
Open the host file in Notepad and modify it.

Hope this works for u
