What are you waiting for? Go get Firefox 3, it is easily my favorite browser ever. The only other one I liked as much was Firefox 2 ;)

It's fast, memory usage is nothing like it was in Firefox 2 (I had many different tabs open with different sites full of flash content plus videos from youtube, and FF was not even taking 70Mb of RAM :O ), and there's a bunch of neat new features all throughout the program that I feel like I discover another one every couple of days (e.g. I just saw yesterday what happens when you click and drag anything clickable. try dragging a picture and even highlight text and drag it).

Plus with the addons that you can apply, it makes it an awesome browser. My main addons are Adblock Plus & the filterset.g updater, google toolbar, google preview, image zoom, piclens (i love this addon), ietab (for those developers that insist on using ie), and greasemonkey (this addon is simply amazingly useful with all the different scripts you can add to it).

Ya I got 3 last night and so far I seem to be liking it.. it seems faster than IE.. and ya I read more than one thread around the net of people testing the mem usage with up to 12 pages loaded.. it seems to handle things MUCH better than IE. When I installed the official FF3 release it already had the google toolbar.. my only problem is I use Google all the time. but Yahoo's mail. so I like there toolbar for the quick keys on it.. but it makes the menu and all that to big.. I coulnd't get it any smaller.. but it does seem like a nice browser..

Definitely FF3 - There's a 64 bit build out there - Fast as the 32 bit one is, the 64 bit one is noticably quicker. Though perhaps jsut because there's no Flash on it... :p

FF3 is amazing.
i've noticed that it is a lot faster then FF2 but the only downside is that some of the add ons i had on FF2 aren't updated yet for FF3. and look i can add what i'm listening to from foxy tunes...ha.

xguntherc, I also felt that the menu was a little big and when I use laptop, the monitor's only 14" so I don't get much room to see things. So this is the way I cuztomized the menu bars: I moved everything from the navigation bar up to the menu bar that has File, Edit, View. etc. Then after you've moved all the buttons up, right-click and hide the navigation bar. And I've been using it this way for a while now and its great.

There's a small pic of my current layout.

The google search you talk about, is it the one integrated with FF? Because what I have is the downloaded Google Toolbar. The toolbar has a bunch of useful features that I like. The autofill saves a lot of time as it fills in your name, address, email, phone number, even credit card info if you decide to. The little highlighter you see next to the autofill in my pic is really good too. It's similar to the find feature in FF but I find it much easier. You type whatever words you want in the google search and the words will appear to the right of the highlighter; now you have 2 choices to find those words throughout the page you're on: You can either click on the word and it will find that word throughout the page, or you can click the highlighter and it will highlight all of the words in different colors. The toolbar also has a lot of stuff that I don't use may be of use to others.

To the navigation bar, I moved all the buttons and the address bar to the left of File, Edit, View, etc. Then after I moved everything, I hid the navigation bar.

Forgot about your second post: I don't know how to hide the File Edit buttons, but I'm fine with it because I use them from time to time. Maybe you could try searching for an addon that hides them or something.

I love Firefox 3's features, but I notice that it tends to freeze up for a few seconds periodically while loading webpages. It straightens itself out quickly, but this is rather annoying.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Well in my case FF3 freezes and is stopping completely from time to time
The only good thing there is that its always offering to restore the previous sesssion.
I really hope that a future update will solve this problem.
