I bought this computer four days ago and I can not get flash player 8 to install. Do I need to take it to Geek Squad or can I fix it myself. I love to watch tv shows at ABC.com

Hi Knit and welcome to the forums,

Why download Flash 8? Here's the link to the newer Flash 9: Adobe Flash Player 9

Thank you for the information about Flash Player 9. I clicked on the link and I once again received the same message in the Information Bar: "Internet Explorer blocked this site from using an ActiveX control in an unsafe manner. As a result, this page may not display correctly."

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do next?

Thanks.

Have you changed the security settings in your Internet Explorer and have you tried clicking the Information Bar to see if there's an option to load it anyway?

I will have to play with the security settings tomorrow. Clicking on the Information Bar is pointless......I click on install anyways but it refuses to install. Will lowering the security settings cause me to suddenly be over run with viruses and miscellaneous junk.?

Not sure about that last question since I don't use Internet Explorer (IE). An excellent alternative to using IE is Mozilla Firefox. It's very secure and very customizable with many different themes and addons, plus you can use Flash without any problem. ;)
