Internet Explorer (wrong version)

Hi, I have had my computer about a month and a half and today I just realized I have been the wrong Internet Explorer. In my list of programs Internet Explorer 64-bit is also listed so I brought that browser up instead of the one I have been using all along which is not a 64-bit. Anyhow I have nothing listed in my activeX contols outside of McAfee SiteAdvisor. I then went to my game site (Pogo) to play my games and recieved a popup box stating I do not have Java installed. In my Programs and Features I do have Java 6 update 10 installed but it is only listed in the other browser I was using. It is not listed in this browser. My question is, `Do I un-install java6 update 10 and reinstall for this browser or do I install it again for this 64 bit browser, I have no idea what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

OK, you don't have the *wrong* version running. Windows 64bit includes *both* 32bit versions and 64bit versions of Internet Explorer - this is done by default (even in Windows 7 pre-Beta). This is there because some applications (most notably, at this time, Adobe Flash Player) does not support running on a 64bit browser in Windows. Yet.

Also, the same applies for JAVA - there are 32bit versions and there are 64bit versions - you obviously have the 32bit version installed, so your 32bit browser can see it.

You're welcome to get the 64bit version of JAVA and see if POGO games will work with your 64bit browser - however, if they use *any* flash material, you're out of luck and will be forced to use the 32bit version.

Thank you johngalt, I did alot of reading after I posted here and soon realized that IE7 32- bit is the default browser for just those reasons you have just mentioned so for now I will stick with this browser. This way I won't create unnecessary problems for myself. Thank you very much for replying to my post.

I use both versions. Most of the time, I use the 64-bit version, but if certain websites don't work correctly then I will switch to the 32-bit version for them. Obviously, I would prefer it if everything worked with the 64-bit browser, but I realise that the problem doesn't necessarily lie with the website creators but more often than not with developers such as Adobe (and others) who don't currently provide 64-bit add-ons for Internet Explorer.
