Windows Mail message rules

When I try to set up a message rule in Windows Mail it will not allow me to select more than one action. Example: I cannot set as actions "delete from the server" *and* "stop processing more rules".
The condition I'm using in conjunction with the above is the one specifying specific words in the message body.
I am using Vista Home Premium 32bit. I can do the above succesfully in Windows XP.
TIA for help

Hello Sarajay,

Welcome to the forums.

Have just tried this myself. If I choose Do not download it from server or Delete it from server, I am not allowed to check any other options. Since the rule is for certain messages, I'm thinking that if you choose either of those rules, then there is nothing else that WM can do with it as all other options are based on the email being downloaded into WM. In XP it may be that when it was deleted from the server, it just ignored the stop processing more rules as there was nothing to process on. Just a guess on my part. Maybe someone else has another thought.

Thanks, Gary for your reply and thanks for your welcome. However, I have already tried what you suggested and the emails download anyway (these are spam emails all from one source but which cleverly uses different IDs/EM addresses each time). I know the simplest think would be to change my email address but I just feel there should be a technical solution.

Have you tried just selecting the rule to delete from server and not bother with the rest or to just delete the email once it has been downloaded. I have a few of those myself that are sent straight to the deleted folder. Problem with changing email addys is that it only lasts until your email is found again. Also make sure you have the latest updates for junk mail rules.

Please keep us posted.

I am having problems with my message rules in mail. I used to have over 200, but i deleted them all and started new. Now i have 7 rules, one for each email address. it say to move in the "pers" folder, if the email comes form the "specified" account, "pers @ xxxemailaddress. com". but all of the mails are going to the Junk email account. why?
Also, if i manually apply the rules, it puts the emails in the right places.
