Can no longer connect to the Internet

Well something wierd has happened...I had a working internet connection until Saturday PM and now I cannot access the web...

Strange thing is apps like Google Earth seem to access the web fine, browsers don't and neither does my Kapersky updater.

I am using Vista 64 bit Home Premium (SP1)

I have a wireless Linksys router that vista can see and connect to..

My laptop, PS3 can connect to the same router and access the Internet ok.

Any ideas??:mad:

click your start button (the orb thingy) then all programs/accessories and right click command prompt and choose "run as administrator"

in the resulting box type ..... ping www.google.com ..... and hit return (your leaving a space between ping and the adress)

let us know what it says

sorry I meant to mention I tried to PING several sites yesterday and each hop was unsuccessful.

But it would allow me to use FTP in the command line..

But would not allow Kaspersky to connect to it's FTP update site

I attempted using safe mode last and each on the three installed browsers would not connect to the Internet, I also tried to roll back using system restore.

any other ideas?

Hi there. I've been having the exact same problem and my 3 browsers didn't work. But for some reason 64bit IE runs just fine. However nothing else runs like steam, dropbox, or most of my recent games I bought. Some things refuse to update.

Pinging didn't work before but now it does.

Tried System restore to various point, and reset my comp a few times but none worked. It failed with wireless internet and direct LAN. My antivirus is Nod32. I tried with it on and without it on but had no new results. Updated java and browsers to latest editions but they still fail.

When I open the broswers I get a blank page. When I click home, a link, or even type something in the address bar, it returns blank (in firefox), an error (in chrome), or a page cannot display webpage (in IE). But when I use 64 bit IE8, it runs while all my other programs don't run well at all! Tried doing a diagnostic boot and it failed as well.

Run as admin doesn't seem to work either. Neither does creating a new account besides my main admin.

I've had this problem before and resolved it with system restore, but now it's not working!

Hope you can help.

you could try netsh winsock reset in command prompt , worth a shot?
