IE 8 Slow and Hangs

For the past 2 months, Internet Explorer 8 has been acting strange.

When I surf Youtube.com, IE8 is fine for the first 5 min., but then gets slow when opening links.

It eventually hangs when trying to open a video. I even try to make sure that I only have a max of 3 tabs open at any time.

Is anyone aware of the possible cause? Could it be IE8 itself? or 1 of it's settings?

I noticed that IE (with no add-ons) is also a little bit slower than usual.

I've been using Google Chrome as a substitute, which is quite fast and very responsive!

Any help would be very appreciated.

YouTube, do you mean actually watching the video's? If yes, go to device manager and check for yellow warning notices about your video card. If no yellow markers, make sure that drivers are up to date.

Graphics Card and Drivers are fine. I might try uninstalling IE8 and then re-install.

I've tried everything that you could suggest, except "regedit", and re-installing IE8.

The culprit could be, Orbit Downloader, or AVG Safe Search.

Too much unnecessary software. All that is needed is Miscrosoft Security Essentials, Malwarbytes and Windows Firewall. All else just slows you down and/or causes problems.

If interested, would you want me to post my maintenance recommendations?

Some users that upgraded to Internet Explorer 8 experience issues with tabs not working properly or taking a very long time to load. It seems for most users the issue can be attributed to a problem with actxprxy.dll not installing properly during the upgrade. If you have a similar problem with IE8, fixing the issue is as simple as a running one command.
