Used to be I could use XMarks to download all my Chrome bookmarks into Firefox, then use CheckPlaces to restore favicons, then upload and download into Chrome. Now the trick doesn't restore the favicons in Chrome.

Anyone have another gimmick aside from visiting every page in bookmarks?

Only thing I found out so far, CheckPlaces needs to be backed off to 2.22 to fix favicons in FF. Still doesn't fix chrome but at least FF is back to normal.

As lame as it seems, looks like until someone does a CheckPlaces type extension for chrome, the way to get favicons back is right click on your bookmarks toolbar folders and select Open All Bookmarks. It will ask if you really want to open x number of tabs. Click yes.

The good news is, chrome sync seems to fix the favicons on other copies of chrome you have synced. You only have to do it once.
