Blekko in stead if IE?

Welcome
If you click on another search engine (Google, Yahoo, or IE etc) and you get Blekko, you have been hijacked; this is what you do.
Update your anti virus and make a full scan.
Download the free Malwarebytes and make a full scan.
If this does not work, with system restore go back at least a week before the problem began.

In addition to Rich's excellent advice. Could you please post the malwarebytes log upon completion? Then we'll be able to judge what's the best way to go forward :)

Hi Rich, when I downloaded the patch you suggested to allow my windows to open maximized I was offered a prompt to use a "Blekko taskbar", I declined but after that incident thats when it appeared. I dont want to do a restore because I had problems when I first bought tis lightly used laptop 6 days ago. Can I just download internet explorwer again? I am going to do the virus thing right now....... Iwill post the results, thanks Rich.

My Computer

Sorry Tom, posted just as you did lol!!! I will post the rewsults, should I do a quick scan or a complete scan? FYI...I just clicked my Google search engine and it worked okay. I will return...................................

My Computer

Did the quick scan with Malwarebytes and it returned a "No problems found" I tried searching for Blekko in my programs file but its not there.

My Computer

For anti virus and malwarebytes, do the full scan.

If the problem began just a few days ago a restore is the best way to go. It will return you the way you were. We can then find another way to open your IE maximized.

It is most likley an IE add-on, which we can take care of too. I truly believe this one will be easy to solve.

I tried to download a copy of IE, it tells me to close windows before download and guess what? No download happens, getting a bit frustrated. I went to internet options and removed Blekko as the default browser, now its AOL!!!

My Computer

Go to default programs and make IE the default.
You already have IE you cannot download again, unless its to a more current version.
Go to search by the start button, type default. Default programs will pop up, go there and set IE. as default.

Geez rich, I tried selecting IE as the default program but when I select explorer again from my desktop the AOL/HP page comes up. I cannot find Internet explorer in my programs. Sorry for being such a clod!

My Computer

First you are not a clod. After we are done you will know as much as me about this issue.
Lets go step by step. Shut down your computer and boot it. Now click on the IE icon as though you want to bring up IE. Give me a screen shot of what you get.

Thank you so much Rich, I am trying to get a little more educated/informed and as I do this I will probably screw a few things up. Its nice to know you are there lol!!!!!

My Computer

Take your time and use that computer maintenance information that I gave you in your prior thread. That will teach you a lot.
Right now, make a system restore point so we can always go back, just in case.
