email problem

This may or may not be a vista problem, however, two tec's have told me that i need to upgrade to windows ten or buy a new laptop with ten..The problem is that I can't forward an email using my contact list..I receive a failure to deliver message from gmail. this is the same contact list I've been using for over a year and this only started to occur a week ago. I can compose a new email and it sends just fine. I just can't use the forward function..Any ideas?

(Please don't get Windows 10!)

We'll need to know the name and version of your mail client, or your internet browser, first.
Have you tried using another client yet, or revising your SMTP connection settings?

I've been using googles gmail for at least six years. I would rather not change my email as I've got hundreds of websites that know my present email.I haven't touched the SMTP settings as I've been afraid to make things worse..

OK - so you're using a mail client like Windows Mail or Mozilla Thunderbird.
Try using another mail client and forwarding email via contacts there, it might just be a problem with what you're using right now.

OK, sorry - download the program from https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/thunderbird/, set it up and see if you can import everything from windows mail to mozilla thunderbird.
(Remember to always get software from the official site too)

How to Add Windows Contacts to Thunderbird | Chron.com

Follow the instructions clearly, and then once you're done, try forwarding an email through your contact list. If it works or doesn't work, report back to Vista Forums.

Have fun :) - any other questions you have, feel free to ask on these boards - and to click F1 in a program to get the help topics.
(I might write up a list of useful software for Vista if you want me to with official download links.)

What software do you use to store your contacts? You should be able to import/export them from that, but I don't know what you were using. :/

Forget the Windows contacts as that is not what you want and try this tutorial

I don;t know who wrote this tutorial, but they have to be using something other than vista and google...None of the screen shots he shows are anything like what I've got. I tried to work around them but never got the (Opening contactscsv) box ..didn't know where to go....I'm beginning to feel real dumb and frustrated... Larry

G-Mail has two views, standard and basic HTML
The option to export does not show on my Basic HTML setting but does on standard.
G-Mail is all done on line unless you use an e-mail client like Thunderbird, Outlook, Windows live mail etc.
The option to use a program like Thunderbird is useful if you want to write your e-mails while you are off line and have them sent when you next go on line.
I have used it in the past but don't bother now.
It's getting a bit off the subject of your first post.

Now to your problem.
When I first read it I thought the problem was when you write an e-mail from your contacts you get the failure when you try to forward that
Do you not use the Cc box to forward the message to others?

When you open an e-mail and click Forward do you get the error saying Failure to deliver?

I don't receive a failure to deliver till I hit send. I can send mail from "compose" and it goes thru fine, But thats only if I send it to one client at a time. If I try to send to multiple people on my contact list. I get a failure to deliver. I'll have to go back and try to send (by forward to just one person) to see if its a multiple problem....

Have you tried sending to other people with the Cc (carbon copy) option and does it go through then?

Sorry about the delay in replying we are different time zones
