Solved Bsod - irql_not_less_or_equal

Trapper

Member
Since yesterday I've been getting frequent BSOD with the message IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, along with the stop 0x000000A. I believe it's the cause of a windows update that occurred yesterday. I also recently removed a virus (fake MS anti-virus program) from my computer, about five days ago. I performed a system restore dating back to April 12th, and that allowed me to boot up normally. Once windows started installing all of the updates again, it crashed with the same error. However, at the moment I've been able to boot up normally, but my computer seems sluggish and a little off.

All necessary info is attached.

Other notes:
Gateway-FX laptop, 2008
Vista 64-bit, came pre-installed, never re-installed or modified it

Hi welcome to the forum.
In view of your problems I will request a member of our BSoD team have a look.

They are busy, and due to different time zones they are not always readily available.
However, I would ask you to be patient & one will attend as soon as practical. Thank you.
Meanwhile would you download this link, the expert may require you to upload reports for analysis.

Those that can help will need the information that is outlined here,
Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions
If you can include that info in your next post, they will be able to read it and offer you some help.
Do not do any further Restore. If indeed infected you are spreading the infection.
Thank you for your patience.

I was able to perform all of the tasks outlined by Jonathan_King except for reinstalling the network adapters. For whatever reason, the problem has become worse and I am only able to boot up in safe mode with networking. I was going to format the hard drive and reinstall windows vista, but then realized that the laptop did not come with a disc for installing windows, due to the fact that it was pre-installed. There is a partition with a recovery drive though. Is it possible to format the computer in this situation?

Also, I've included all of the new dump files in the attached zip file.

Are you able to update the network adapter drivers in Safe Mode?

Jonathan_King,
After spending the weekend trying to resolve things, it reached the point where I couldn't even boot up in safe mode. I ended up just reinstalling windows from a disk. Thanks for the help though!

Ok so I'm not the best with these kinds of problems, but im kinda confused about Kings post. Is that a walkthrough on fixing an IRQL not less or equal BSoD.

also in the time it takes for a response, im going to try using the program found at this site:

Ok as it turns out, I would have to pay for said program. So that option is out. I cannot afford things like this, is there a free way to fix this problem?
