Need help debugging frequent BSOD

NeedsHelp64

New Member
I could use some help debugging a frequent blue screen issue. I ran the appropriate tests as instructed by jcgriff2 and attached the reports. The machine is running Vista x64 Home Premium SP2 which I installed when the machine was built in Dec '08.

Basic specs are:
AMD Athlon dual core 6000+ 3.1 GHz processor
Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H motherboard
8.0 GB (2.0 GB x 4) Crucial Ballistix DDR2 RAM
Running on-board video & sound

Thanks in advance for your help.

Running the last 10 memory dumps.....

perfmon shows issues with an ISATAP adapter. Please do this:
- open up Device Manager (devmgmt.msc)
- you should see the ISATAP adapter under the Network Adapters section. If not, click on the + sign there to expand the Network Adapters section.
- right click on the ISATAP adapter (and any other ISATAP, 6to4, Teredo, or Unknown adapters that show errors) and select "Uninstall"
- If needed the adapter(s) will reinstall at the next reboot. But, in most cases they aren't needed and don't reinstall.

Only 267 updates since SP2 - most systems have 300 to 350 (or more). Please visit Windows Update and get all available updates.

10 memory dumps
6 different BSOD error codes
at least 6 different causes blamed

This is most likely a hardware error. They (hardware errors) are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- overclocking - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- compatibility issues
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

Your Norton/Symantec protection dates from 2006 - please do this:
Anti-Virus Removal:
Please do the following:
- download a free antivirus for testing purposes: Free AntiVirus
- uninstall the Norton from your system (you can reinstall it, if so desired, when we're done troubleshooting)
- remove any remnants of Norton using this free tool: http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080710133834EN
- IMMEDIATELY install and update the free antivirus, then check to ensure that the Windows Firewall is turned on.
- check to see if this fixes the BSOD's
NOTE: NEVER run more than 1 anti-virus, firewall, Internet Security/Security Center application at the same time.

Your wired networking drivers date from 2007 and must be updated also. More info here: http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=Rtlh64.sys

Your Cyberlink drivers date from 2007 also, please either update the program or uninstall it.

I also suspect your Motorola Android drivers - but this is merely because I've never seen them in a memory dump before. Try uninstalling them to see if that helps.

Beyond that, I don't see any signs of further 3rd party driver involvement - but would like you to run Driver Verifier to be sure. Please follow the instructions here to run Driver Verifier: Driver Verifier Settings

While waiting for Driver Verifier to crash, you can also start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

If the above steps don't stop the BSOD's, please zip up and upload any new memory dumps with your next post - and we'll see what we can figure out from there.

The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs

- Further info on BSOD error messages available at: http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html
- Info on how to troubleshoot BSOD's (DRAFT): http://www.carrona.org/userbsod.html
