Canoscan LiDE 35 Vista & Windows 7 64bit driver

I saw a closed post for these drivers in these forums on Google, as i have once again been trying to install mine.

I have just got it to work using the Canoscan LiDE 60 driver and toolbox software.

Just thought I'd mention that ;)

Hello scoutfu,

I have a Canoscan Lide 35. I downloaded the lide60vst6411111a_64en.exe compressed file. The thing is that I am not able to install it. I unzipped the .exe file. It created alide60vst6411111a_64en folder with a SetupSG.exe file. I ran the SetupSG.exe file and after a while noticed that it created a canoscan with a couple of folders... Nevertheless, the driver is not installed.

Can you explain how you proceed on your side to do this installation?

Regards!

Arnaud

My Computer

Use Winrar, right click the file and select Extract to lide60vst6411111a_64en\

Open the folder it creates (ide60vst6411111a_64en)

Inside the folder you'll find SetupSG.exe, extract it the same way again and you will find the driver

Go to your Device Manager (right click Computer - select Manage)

Plug in the scanner so you can see it pop up in the Device Manager

Right click it, Update / Install driver

Select Browse my computer for driver then Let me pick from a list of drivers, just select 'All' then click OK

Select Have Disk then Browse and select the CNQL60.INF file inside the SetupSG folder.

It will say that it isnt the correct driver and may not work..... but its lying ;)

Continue and you're done

EDIT: I now have this working on Windows 7 x64 using the same driver. One additional piece of software that i needed to install was the CanoScan Toolbox which you can find here :p

I have the same problem. But when I click on "setupSG.exe" I see a bar load, and then nothing...

No setup files, no ini files, and the scanner is not installed!

Please help me, as this is very frustrating.

I was able to unzip the original lide60vst6411111a_64en file...and I saw the setup and read me files. The setup file just loads, and then NOTHING happens...

What do I do now?

My OS is Vista Ultimate 64. I have a canoscan Lide 35 attached...

Many thanks for the help.

Look at my second post - Don't run the archives, extract them ;)

But how? The archives themselves are not extractable per se...

There is no option to extract it, unless i simply put it in a zip folder...but then I am simply extracting the original archive file...

when i right click on the file, i dont have the option to extract it...

So yeah...please help ... :-)

My Computer

I have the same issue with the SetupSG.exe archive "running" but no visible drivers extracted (and I have Show Hidden Files turned on). Any suggestions for how to find the Lide 60 driver? WinZip opens and closes automatically, and does not give me an opportunity to see how the archive is being extracted. The CNQL60.INF file is nowhere to be found on my machine. Thanks!

My Computer

You need to extract the file, not run it.

Use Winrar, right click the file and select Extract to lide60vst6411111a_64en\

Open the folder it creates (ide60vst6411111a_64en)

Inside the will be an SetupSG.exe, extract it the same way again and you will find the driver

Sorry, i did not make this clear in my instructions so have edited them to stop any future confusion. Hope it helps ;)

Ugh, what a pain, but your directions were spot on, and I didn't have to buy a new scanner. Thank you so much for your patience in answering all of the questions. :)

Hi,
I have a problem when I do what you told us to do to install this driver. Everything goes well until I arrived to the last part where we need to locate the file, select CNQL60.INF and then click ok.

When I select it it's the button ''open'' that I have to press and if I do it it shows the folder as empty (but I looked at it and there is 3 files in it...)

Because of that I can't go any futher.

Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong??

Thanks.

melli:

Is there a drop down menu underneath that you can change to all file types?

I'm not sure where you are in the process, what you have may need to be extracted one more time as in previous posts.

Melli,

This is exactly what happened to me.

However, if you go back to the beginning of this thread, you'll see that Scoutfu told us to use "Winrar" to extract the file. I skipped this part the first time too. :-)

If you install Winrar, you'll be able to extract the CNQL60.INF file and pick it in the next step. Once I did that it all worked like a charm for me.

Thanks again to Scoutfu for all of the good help.

Melli, let us know if you're still struggling.

My Computer

Hi again, OK now I was able to install it right. I just re-extracted it. But I have an other problem...when I tried to scan it says : ''Cannot communicate with the scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off. Check Status. ''

The scanner is plugged, but it doesn't recognize it.

It says also: '' Unable to open TWAIN source. Please check connection.

I'm starting to hate this scanner now...!

Is that happened to you guys too?

Thanks.

Melli,

I got some of those types of errors (not the exact ones) when I was going through this. This is not a definitive answer - hopefully someone else will have one, or you could Google the error - but I would install the toolbox that was available there with the driver than you loaded up. Had I been using the older driver, I would have also been using the older toolbox, but since i moved to a higher level driver (from LIDE 50 to LIDE 60), I also installed the toolbox that went with it.

Anyway, here is what i would do, but I'm not sure it will work. Worth a try if you get no other responses I suppose.

1) Install the toolbox that goes with the driver you installed.
2) Unplug the scanner
3) Reboot the computer
4) Let the computer start up completely (let it also run long enough to indicate that it's installed the new drivers if it says it's doing that)
5) Try running the scanner again.

Also, you might want to read up in the thread - at one point someone said that they had to trick the device into thinking it had the disk. I had to do that part before it would work for me. There are pretty good directions further up on how to do that.

Good luck!

Hello, just registered here since I found this thread via google and so far it has been an insane amount of help. I've followed every instruction to the letter up until the end of the thread, and unfortunately my scanner still won't function. I'm not sure if it's because I'm using a Lide 20 instead of a 35, but somebody on another forum did the exact same thing you guys are doing here, and he had the same model of scanner as I do, and got it working.

I'm getting the same errors as the previous user; the toolbox says the "other program is busy", then gives me a switch-to option that goes nowhere... then I get the communication error that my device is off or unplugged, and finally that my twain source can't be opened. I'm not exactly sure where to go from here, any insight would be MOST appreciated!

Regardless, thank you so much... even getting this far gave me hope when an hour ago I was looking into buying a new scanner...

Blumchen, did you install the toolbox that went with the driver you installed?

You are now using a "60" scanner, so I think you'll want to install the 60 toolbox as well.

Also, did you tell the system you had the disk when you installed the driver? That's an important trick.

One final thing. Every now and then I have to reinstall the driver. I have no idea why, but I've gotten good enough at it that it's quick. It's possible that you might want to run through it one more time just in case. ;-)

Good luck!
