TSST Corp DVD+RW TS-H653 A - Driver Issue

OK, So I have the DVD/RW device listed above in a DELL Dimension E520 w/ Vista Home Premium and it just stopped working altogether. I get no messages at all. When I insert a CD I get no response. I checked for driver updates and I supposedly have the most current driver. I tried to reinstall to no avail. I tried to uninstall and reboot thinking it would reinstall itself and get error code 39 telling me the driver is corrupt or missing.

I went to the DELL firmware page, downloaded the update R152871 and when I go install it I get a warning box saying DRIVE NOT FOUND.

Anyone know what the deal is?

Thanks.

Hi VinB:
I don't know if this will be of any help to you, but have you opened your My Computer file to check to see if your drive letter has changed? Every so often when I install a disk I get nothing. I check and sure enough the drive letter has been changed from E to F. I've tried changing it back in Computer Management but with no luck. The only way I can get it back is to do a system restore.
In fact, I'm going to start a new thread to see if any one knows why this happens
Good Luck
Powell

t would reinstall itself and get error code 39 telling me the driver is corrupt or missing.
But error code 39 is very simple repearable -there are only UpperFilter,LowerFilter trouble in key HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and nothing more

Error code 10,19,31,39,41 are fully reapeareble by KB314060 and nothing more is required

You had hang undesire filter driver hanged by DVD.I fought many times with these errors like you :sleepy:.Even I made keepsake.Look these photos (before error an with error):
When this kind of error appear the hanged driver is not visible in device manager -you only see it in registry
You can read entries in UpperFilter/LowerFilter ->these coresponds to driver service which is hanged.Of course you have to find this driver service in HKLM\System\CurrentControl\Set\Services

For example in my image

LowerFilter=PxHelp this means driver service is PxHelp and service key is

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\PxHelp20 and then easy to read & locate driver.

Of course PxHelp20.sys is non-system driver

Many other devices also may have filters but these could be fully natural filters and removing them cause to crash your system or any error for example mouse don't work and likely.
Example with other device:

If really know which driver relate to Upper/LowerFilter yes you can try this -of course be careful what you doing.

Your issue would relate to incorrectly disabled autorun in HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom ,open this key and make sure the string Autorun is set to 1 if not then fix it and restart computer.

If it also fail I recomend upgrade firmware for DVD.

My Computer

autorun is already set to and an upgrade to the firmware isnt available anywhere i kant find it people say that there isnt one ....... and i keep trying to reintall it but it does not resolve my problem . >:( and i really need my drive to use system restore and stuuf like that and to be able to use the boot option at restart

go to Start>>Search>>Services.msc

and make sure Shell Hardware Detection service is sstarted and set to AUTO.If this service is also correct set then I suspect issues on hardware layer.

I'm afraid your issue is on hardware layer :(.Clear DVD drive, check cables, you may also flash new BIOS,if really nothing help you have to change DVD :(
